Dr Peter Cole

It all started when…

Dr Peter Cole completed his medical studies at the University of Nottingham back in his homeland of England. He worked as a GP partner in the UK until he moved to his wife’s hometown of Canberra in 2011. He worked in a practice in Jerrabomberra for 11 years before joining Barton in 2023.

Peter has a special interest in Sports Medicine but enjoys every aspect of General Practice. He has been the Club Doctor for Tuggeranong Vikings Rugby Club since 2015 and has helped with the Brumbies development teams, he is often part of the Match Day Medical Team for Super Rugby games. He has enjoyed working with a variety of community / semi-professional sporting codes throughout his career.

Peter was drawn to General Practice as he loves the variety it offers. He has enjoyed having paediatric patients and also looking after the elderly. He has great experience in antenatal and postnatal care, chronic disease management (including diabetes) and community based palliative care. He also has experience in procedural work; he performs cortisone injections, is happy to insert / remove implanon,  remove concerning skin lesions,  excise “lumps and bumps” and also offers ingrowing  toenail surgery.

Peter also works as an Orthopaedic Surgical Assistant and as a Sports Doctor at the Australian Institute of Sport.

Peter enjoys family life and has 2 children, 1 cocker spaniel and too many chickens. He may occasionally be spotted in lycra or trying to run round the lake but is at his happiest when out camping with his family.
